Au Pied de Cochon, a celebrated Canadian restaurant in Montréal, has captivated diners with its rich and flavorful offerings. Known particularly for its creative use of foie gras, reviews reveal a consistently high praise for dishes like the foie gras poutine and the duck tartare, both described as remarkable culinary experiences. Everything is delicious and has the layer of taste. What i like most is the fondant dessert. Duck in a can seem to be the must thing to try but we like it the least because it is a bit oily for us. We mentioned in our reservation that we came here to celebrate our anniversary and the server really made something for us on the dessert part. Thanks for that. Overall. It’s a good experience.

I really enjoyed this place. I find every dishes of the meal was great, rich, complex and perfectly created. I love the fries so much. Its the simple thing but they just made it perfectly fine.. it covered with salt and maple sugar. We also ordered the temaki which is really amazing.. crunchy and yummy. The foie gras nigiri were delicious, i love it. The duck in the can is good but i dont really enjoy it much since they are too much fat and its a bit chewy. ( just my personal opinion) still the taste is complex and good. Friendly services. Will come back to try other menus.

If you're a foie fanatic, this place is not to be missed! The foie gras poutine, foie gras nigiri, and duck tartare were standouts. The ambiance is unpretentious and the waitstaff are warm and chatty; happy to take you through the menu and make recommendations. I recommend sitting at the bar overlooking the open kitchen so you can observe the kitchen in action, and leaving time for a walk afterwards – incredibly atmospheric and charming neighborhood!

OH MY WORD!! My first night visiting Montreal and I was able to snag a spot at the bar. The bartender made me a nice off menu mocktail and I had some really good locally sourced sparkling water. I ordered the duck tartare and the foie gras poutine - which is a must move for first timers! The duck tartare was served sushi style with crispy potato bits and wrapped in seaweed. Best to eat with your hands. Delicious! The main delight for me was the foie gras poutine. It was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. There are two different sauces that go so well together and the cheese curds are cut slightly longer on the bottom. The fries were perfectly crisp and the foie gras had a lovely char to it. Everything works so perfectly together and I was beyond joyed for my specific life choices that brought me to this heavenly dish. Thank you so much, Au Pied de Cochon!! I’m gonna see if I can make a reservation to come back this week

A wonderful experience. The wine, the appetizers, and every single dish was nuanced and delicious. The unexpected combinations were a treat for any palate. The absolute best part was the attentive and welcoming atmosphere and service. Not speaking any French, I was a little intimidated but everyone made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. I wish there was an option for a 6th star. Kudos to Cedric, Michael and Fred for making our night so magical.

Had a fantastic dinner at Au Pied de Cochon! The atmosphere was lively and inviting, and the service was warm and attentive throughout the night. The razor clams ended up being the surprise favorite—absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The duck in a can lived up to the hype: rich, flavorful, and indulgent. I also really enjoyed the halibut, which was fresh and beautifully cooked. The sweetbreads were good, though they didn’t quite stand out as much as the other dishes. Desserts were a real highlight. The key lime donut was phenomenal—light, tangy, and unique—and the pudding chomeur was the perfect comforting end to the meal. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Montreal and looking to experience bold Quebecois flavors in a lively, indulgent setting.

The first time I came here was 20 years ago and now whenever I visit Montreal it's a must go. The foie gras nigiri is one of the most memorable bites of food I've ever had in my life. The service is so hospitable, the house wines are incredible, and it's just everything you want Montreal to be. The vegetable side dishes were overly heavy for my taste but that is subjective.

A beautiful restaurant that truly deserves its accolades. A worthwhile experience for people who are into stepping out of their comfort zone (if you've never had foie gras before that is.) Service was exceptional, our water glasses were never empty. Meals are described to you (french or english!) so you know what you're getting more thoroughly than the menu lists. Very kind and passionate people handling our food! I was thoroughly impressed by the sweetbread appetizier and highly recommend it. Portions are much denser than they look, so regardless of what you order, you will feel full and satiated upon leaving. The foie gras poutine is very rich and savoury. There's an EXTENSIVE wine collection and several cocktails you can order to pair with the food. I highly highly recommend eating here for the experience. Even if you end up not liking the food (I found that I do not like foie gras unfortunately) you can still taste and appreciate the work and skill each dish has. This is a Montreal staple for sure!
